Today, Chetwood Lloyd is fully independent and FCA-authorised, offering fee-free, impartial advice with clients’ best interests at heart.
Away from work, Jamie and his wife Gurpreet enjoy exploring North Wales, mountain biking, hiking, and reading.
Gurpreet started her career teaching in inner-city schools, where she honed her patience, structure, and communication skills. As our Compliance Lead, she makes sure everything is in order and complies with regulations, ensuring that clients can rest easy knowing their financial future is in capable hands.
Gurpreet is our committed Mortgage Paraplanner, who serves as the crucial liaison between lenders and clients in addition to compliance. Her calm, comforting demeanor helps homeowners navigate the mortgage application process step-by-step while reducing anxiety and confusion. Gurpreet simplifies and relieves the stress of a complicated journey by taking care of the legwork and updating clients.
She finds equilibrium in nature when she's not working. She loves running, long walks in the country and is an avid reader. Jamie started out at Halifax as a mortgage underwriter, learning what lenders really look for when deciding on an application.
While working full-time, he studied for his Financial Planning Certificates — setting the foundations for a career built on continual learning. From his first role as a mortgage adviser with Legal & General, to helping grow a practice alongside Zurich, each step added to his knowledge and experience.
At 26, Jamie set up his first business, First Rate Mortgage Solutions. But it didn’t take long to realise the name didn’t truly reflect what he stood for. That’s when Chetwood Lloyd Mortgages was born — named after his grandmother and mother, two strong, independent women who shaped the values he brings to the business today.
